Antennas
Parabolic Antenna
- An antenna located at the focal point of a parabolic reflector (dish)
can provide considerable gain with a large capture area
- A 1.2m diameter parabolic dish at 432 MHz (70 cms)
provides about 10dB gain over a half wave dipole
- The beam width of the signal will be very narrow provided
all of the signal energy is at the focal point of the dish
- These antennas are used at UHF and microwaves and specialised feed systems,
often using waveguides (a rectangular section of tube) are used
