Capacitors
Temperature coefficient
- Ideally component values should not vary with temperature.
Resistors and capacitors can be manufactured whose value changes with temperature
- They have a negative [value decreases with temperature] or
positive temperature coefficient (PTC / NTC),
specified in parts-per-million per degree Centigrade (ppm/°C)
- Such resistors are called thermistors and are used as temperature
sensors and current limiters
- Capacitors are used to compensate for drift due
to temperature variation in tuned circuits
