Other Components

• The amounts of forward current (I_F) and peak inverse voltage (piv) i.e., the reverse voltage that the device can tolerate are limiting parameters in diode selection
• When reverse biased a practical diode will have some leakage current which may be important
• Diode has a forward voltage drop depending on material used:
  
     Silicon 0.6V
  
     Germanium 0.3V
  
     Schottky 0.2V
